Veterinary Assistant

Position Overview:

SylvaniaVET is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our 24-hour patient care team. At SylvaniaVET, Assistants support our team of 7 DVMs and 18 RVTs in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery. The responsibilities of an assistant include client communication and education, assistance with in-hospital treatments, radiography, patient restraint, maintaining accurate medical records and much more. Veterinary Assistants will be exposed to a wide variety of cases which may include emergency and critical care, general practice, chemotherapy, rehabilitation, and reproduction. Current students are encouraged to apply. Veterinary Assistants are highly utilized and are exposed to wide array of experiences that are especially beneficial to those seeking carers in veterinary medicine. 

Schedule:

The Veterinary Assistant position is part to full-time with an average of 20-40 hours per week. Veterinary Assistants work varying schedules from week-to-week, based on the needs of the hospital, with shifts ranging from 7:00 a.m.- 11:00 p.m., Sunday through Saturday. SylvaniaVET is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays and occasional overnights is a must.

Position Requirements:

-Team player, able to work well with other to achieve a common goal.

-Experience at a veterinary hospital, kennel, shelter, or other comparable veterinary work or volunteer time.

-Able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.

-Basic organizational and computer skills.

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN (RVT)

Position Overview:
SylvaniaVET is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our 24-hour patient care team. At SylvaniaVET, Technicians support our team of 7 DVMs in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery. The responsibilities of an RVT include client communication and education, in-hospital treatments, vaccine administration, anesthesia monitoring, radiography, phlebotomy, maintaining accurate medical records and much more. RVTs will be exposed to a wide variety of cases which may include emergency and critical care, general practice, chemotherapy, rehabilitation, and reproduction. While prior technician experience is preferred, it is not required. New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Schedule:
The RVT position is full-time with an average of 35-40 hours per week, but no less than 30 hours per week on average.  RVTs work varying schedules from week-to-week, based on the needs of the hospital, with shifts ranging from 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., Sunday through Saturday.  SylvaniaVET is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays is a must.

Position Requirements:
- Registered Veterinary Technician in Ohio.
- Team player, able to work well with others to achieve a common goal.
- Experience in phlebotomy, catheter placement, radiology, drug calculation, anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, pharmacy and nursing care.
- Willing to pursue continuing education to maintain Registered Veterinary Technician status.
- Experience with handling, lifting and restraining canine and feline patients of all breeds and temperaments.
- Minimum of 1 year combined experience at a veterinary hospital, kennel, shelter, or other comparable veterinary work or volunteer time.
- Able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Basic organizational and computer skills.


CLIENT SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE (RECEPTION)

Overview:
SylvaniaVET is seeking a Client Service Representative (CSR) to join our fast-paced, multi-doctor practice. The CSR is a part of the front desk reception team and is responsible for creating the gold standards experience for the clients as they are often the first point of contact in office and via phone. Job responsibilities include cash-handling and payment processing, answering multiple phone lines, scheduling appointments, organizing and storing medical records, maintaining the cleanliness of the front lobby area and various other customer service and clerical-related tasks.

Schedule:
The Client Service Representative position is full-time with an average of 35-38 hours per week, no more than 40 hours in a workweek. CSRs work varying schedules from week-to-week, based on the needs of the hospital, with shifts ranging from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Fridays; 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Saturdays; and 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Sundays. SylvaniaVET is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays is a must.

Requirements:
- Team player, able to work well with others to achieve a common goal.
- Proven ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
- Friendly, outgoing demeanor; a passion for people and animals alike.
- High-volume customer service experience preferred.
- Must be able to work in high noise environments.
- Strong organizational and computer skills.
- Able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.
- High school diploma required; college education preferred.

PET STYLIST

SylvaniaVET is seeking a certified Pet Stylist, with at least 1 year of experience, to join our fast-paced, high volume grooming department. The Pet Stylist responsibilities include, but are not limited to: bathing, brushing, cutting, trimming, styling and maintaining the cleanliness of the hospital. But don't worry, we have Grooming Assistants on staff to help with any Pet Stylist needs!

Schedule:
Shifts are Monday - Friday with a start time of 7:30 a.m.

Requirements:

  • Team player - able to work well with others to achieve a common goal
  • Willing to work with all temperaments, breeds and ages of dogs and cats alike
  • Certified Groomer
  • 1 year of experience
